Child protection and Safeguarding
Sirhowy Valley Woodlands takes child protection and safeguarding very seriously. Each year we work with and encounter hundreds of people of all ages and we strive to ensure that all our members are aware of their duty in terms of child protection and safeguarding. So too our volunteers who support our public engagement work. We will ensure that all the necessary Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks are carried out on a 3 yearly basis and regularly provide updates and training.
Each year we will review our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy based on the latest Government advice and in light of any issues or incidents that may have occurred.
We have trained Designated Safeguarding Leads, who are the primary point of contact for members, volunteers or members of the public who have safeguarding or child protection concerns.
